Abstract
In this chapter we analyze the Uruguayan political system from a comparative perspective. We show that the system is less volatile and less fragmented than almost any other in the region. Conversely, it is the most ideologically polarized. Looking at temporal trends, we find a growing pattern across all these dimensions.
